Lenovo ET980 Software Updating

Software updating for ET980 consists of Eboot updating, IPL updating and system updating. This section describes the updating operations. A complete updating procedure should follow the order given below:

Eboot updating ==> IPL updating ==> system updating

Hold the RECORD key. Click and release the Reset key, and the system enters the Eboot mode. Release the RECORD key. Now the Eboot version number is displayed at the bottom of the screen, as shown in the picture given below.

Hold the RECORD key (Reset key) and the screen illustrated by (1) will be displayed. Choose the sixth option ("update ipl image"), and the screen shown by (2) appears.

Connect the mobile phone and the PC with a USB cable. On the PC end, open the updating program file.

Browse the PC to find the file IPL.nb0. Click "Start updating". When the IPL updating is finished.
Hold the RECORD key (Reset key) and the screen illustrated by left figure given below will be displayed. Choose the forth option ("update eboot image").
Connect the mobile phone and the PC with a USB cable. On the PC end, open the updating program file and choose the file for Eboot updating.
Click "Start updating". When the Eboot updating is finished.
System Updating
Hold the RECORD key (reset key) and the screen illustrated by left figure given below will be displayed. Choose the fifth option ("update system image").
Connect the mobile phone and the PC with a USB cable. On the PC end, open the updating program file and choose the file for system updating.
Click "Start updating". When the system updating is finished.
Notes:

1. After the updating program is started on the PC, when browsing for the updating file to be used, "All Files (*.*)" should be chosen for the file type. Otherwise the updating file will not be shown.

2. The chosen updating file should be matched with the selected updating option. If an option is mistakenly chosen, press and hold the RECORD key (Reset key) to choose again. The steps are simple, but operations should be performed with caution. If the updating is done with an unmatched file, the JTAG tool has to be used to format the mobile phone.
