A soft reset restarts the terminal and saves all stored records and entries.
Caution
Files that remain open during a soft reset may not be retained.

Performing a Symbol PPT 8800 Hard Reset
A hard reset also restarts the terminal, but erases all stored records
and entries. Therefore, never perform a hard reset unless a soft reset
does not solve the problem.
To perform a hard reset:
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. While holding down the Function key, use the stylus to gently press the reset button.
