HP TouchPad hard reset

1 Open Device Info .
2 Tap Reset Options.
3 Tap one of the following:
Erase Apps & Data: Erases all application data and settings, as well as any applications you installed from App Catalog.
Erase USB Drive: Erases all files stored in USB drive storage, such as pictures, videos, and music.
Full Erase: Erases application data and settings, apps you installed, and USB drive storage files. Use Full Erase if you want a clean erase of your currently installed apps and files but plan to continue using the device.
Secure Full Erase: Erases application data and settings, apps you installed, and USB drive storage files. Use Secure Full Erase if you plan to give the device away and you do not want your data and files to be recoverable even using a third-party tool. Secure Full Erase performs a complete wipe of the device and takes considerably longer than a regular full erase.
4 Tap the button again to confirm your choice.
About the full erase options
In most cases, you can perform a regular full erase if you want to erase downloaded applications and USB drive storage files from your device.
Perform a secure full erase when you give your device to somebody else and you don’t want that person to be able to access your data.
Regardless of which full erase option you choose, all your data on the web—in your online accounts and in your HP webOS Account—is untouched.
After either type of full erase, you can sign in to your HP webOS Account either on a new webOS device or the same device you just erased.
Signing in restores your HP webOS Account data and information from online accounts, but not your stored
files such as pictures, videos, and music - you must copy those again to the device

Removing the main battery is one of the steps in resetting all information on a device. Take out the main batteries for at least 3 minutes, then insert them and turn on your HP 340LX device.

The two AA main batteries are stored under the battery plate on the bottom of the device, below the hinge for the cover. Slide the cover plate off and remove the two AA batteries. Reverse the process to reinstall the battery.

HP 340lx Backup battery

The HP 340LX system uses one Li CR2032 battery for backup purposes. This backup battery will be used to maintain the system when the main batteries are removed from the system or when the main batteries are weak. The typical capacity of the backup battery is 180 mAh. The backup battery comes into operation when there is no ACIN signal and the VLB signal is active low. The Very Low Battery (VLB) signal is set to be low when the main battery voltage drops below 1.4 V. This signal is reset when the main batteries' voltages rise above 1.8 V.

If the backup battery is low, the device may function abnormally. The abnormalities may be related to the display, calibration, settings, sound, or other features. For example, the image on the screen will blink on and off or mix colors on the screen and/or the stylus may frequently need to be calibrated. Often the abnormality will occur with more frequency as the battery loses more power. The backup battery should be replaced AT LEAST every 6 months: sooner if the device is operated often with a low main battery.
