1. Enter your handset code.
The default handset code is “9999”. For details on changing the

Performing a Master Reset restores (default pin number : 0000) the
settings (e.g.: Audio, Display, Language, Date & Time, Bluetooth Settings)
stored in the handset memory to default values.
1. In Idle mode, tap the Menu icon , Drag toward the left, tap Settings icon then select Security > Master Reset.
2. “All setting reset to factory defaults continue?“ will appear.
Tap Yes or No.

Master Clear

Performing a Master Clear deletes downloaded/user created contents
(e.g.: images, videos) from your device and the External Memory card.
• Handset
- Deletes all downloaded/user created Images, Videos & Sounds from the
Handset Memory.
- Restores Personal Information stored in the handset memory (e.g.: address
book, messages, tasks, alarm, Scheduler) to default values.
- Restores the settings stored in the handset memory to default values.
• Memory Card: Deletes all contents from the External Memory Card.
1. In Idle mode, tap the Menu icon , Drag toward the left, tap
Settings icon then select Security > Master Clear.
2. “All settings reset to factory defaults and all user data (including SD
card) will be deleted. Continue?“ will appear. Tap Yes or No.

Note All data will be lost when using this funtion.

Turn off your cell phone. Hold the Sym button and the Power button together.
In the Android recovery menu select Wipe data/factory reset by using the volume down or up button and select with Enter.
Select  "Yes - delete all user data" and press Power key to confirm.
When Data wipe complete is displayed, select reboot system now and press Power key to confirm to reboot.

Factory data reset

Erases all data on phone. (Back up your data first!)
This will erase all data from your phone, including: your Google account, system and application data
and settings, downloaded applications. And it will not erase: current system software and bundled
applications, SD card files, such as music or photos.

Back up my data Allow settings and other application data to be backed up to Google servers.
Automatic restore Allow settings or other data to be restored from Google servers if an application is reinstalled.

From the Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Location & security > Clear storage

Clear credential storage of all contents and reset its password.

Resetting the unit
If the unit stops responding while you are using it, you can reset the unit. Make
sure the unit is turned on, and then press the RESET button with the stylus.
Caution:
The reset function will not work if the unit is turned off when you press the RESET
button.

If the problem still persists after you have reset the unit, try the following (full reset)
remedy.
Caution:
The following procedure will cause all data on the unit to be lost and you must
restore data from your previous backup. However, any data added or modified
after your last backup will be lost permanently.
1. Turn off the unit
2. Remove the backup battery.
3. Remove the main batteries.
4. Wait for 30 seconds, then reinstall the main batteries and the backup battery.
5. Turn on and re-setup the unit using the H/PC Setup Wizard.
6. Restore your data from a backup.
Note:
If you forget your password, you must set up your unit again, using the above steps.

Q: How do I backup my information?
A: It is important to always have a back-up of your electronic information.
Here are some suggestions:
· You can connect the unit to your desktop PC and backup your data to the PC using the Windows CE Services.
· You can copy your files to a PCMCIA SRAM Memory Card or a PCMCIA Flash Memory Card. Flash Memory Cards (space permitting) require no battery backup system.
Q: The unit does not seem to work. I changed the batteries but still nothing happens. What should I do?
A: Check that the battery replacement switch on the back of the unit is in the NORMAL OPERATION position, otherwise the unit will not turn on. Make sure the batteries are fresh (HC-4000/4100) or the installed battery pack is
fully charged (HC-4500).
Also, try to reset the unit by pressing the RESET button with the stylus. As a last resort, remove the backup battery and main batteries for 30 seconds.
Then put the main batteries and backup battery back in.
WARNING:
This procedure will cause the loss of all data in the unit! If the problem still persists, contact your local dealer for servicing.

If the unit still fails to function after being reset with the procedure above, or if you forget the password to be entered at start up, you must reset the unit using a more complicated procedure.

To perform a Sharp Zaurus ZR-5000 All Reset operation:

1. Hold down ON while pressing and releasing the RESET switch.

A message appears.
2. Release ON.
Touch No. The built-in clock and any set daily alarms will be reset.
Do not touch Yes in step 3 (as this will delete all unit data). However, if you forget the password for the start-up display, to use the unit you must touch Yes and lose all your data.
